Modern Traditional

When I met my client the first words out of his mouth were “I am a wood guy, you can do anything, but it has to be wood”. No white paint anywhere! Even though white cabinets have been trending they are timeless. Wood is timeless too but getting the right undertones so it works with any decor is tricky. I admit I was nervous and tried to talk my client into “white” trim, he stuck to his guns and I am so glad he did! This wood kitchen, with wood floors and wood trim is amazing and even more beautiful in person! This house is a typical 80’s split level, the living room was divided from the kitchen/dining area by a wall. My client wanted to remove the wall to open up the space, it made sense, but removing the wall created a new challenge. If we removed the wall we no longer had a space that made sense for the TV and living space. I solved that problem by adding a wall on one side of the open stair way, doing so created a new living space with room for a TV. Removing the wall allowed for a family gathering island an improved work triangle.

The cabinets are Rustic Hickory in Acorn with Black Highlights from Crystal Cabinets. The flooring is engineered Oak in Twain, all new millwork in white oak with a custom stain. The countertops are Bianco Antico with a standard finish.
